Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 May 2026
Foothold ("we", "us", or "our") operates foothold.community. This policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
1. What we collect
Waitlist and contact data
When you join our waitlist or contact us, we collect your email address and the page you were on when you signed up. We use this to send you product updates and launch announcements. We do not sell this data.
Usage logs
Our servers log standard HTTP access information: IP address, browser user agent, pages requested, timestamps, and response codes. These logs are used for debugging and security monitoring. Logs are rotated and retained for approximately 90 days.
Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics scripts. The site is served as static files; there is no session cookie infrastructure. If you interact with our product (the Foothold Slack bot), it may store a Slack workspace token necessary to operate — that data is stored server-side, not in your browser.
2. How we use data
- Waitlist email: To notify you when we launch or have relevant updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying "unsubscribe" or clicking the link in any email we send.
- Server logs: For security monitoring (detecting abuse, scanning, and unauthorized access attempts) and debugging infrastructure issues.
- Product data (Slack tokens, workspace IDs, member activity): Solely to operate the Foothold onboarding automation you have configured. We do not use your members' data for any purpose beyond running the automations you set up. We do not train machine-learning models on your community data.
3. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data with:
- Infrastructure providers: Hosting, DNS, and email-delivery providers necessary to operate the service (e.g., Spaceship for domain, Resend for transactional email). These providers process data only as directed by us and under their own privacy policies.
- Slack: The Foothold bot operates within the Slack platform under Slack's API terms. Data you provide to the Slack workspace is governed by Slack's privacy policy.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and company.
4. Data retention
Waitlist emails are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Server access logs are retained for approximately 90 days. If you become a paying customer, we retain billing records as required by applicable law (typically 7 years). You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Section 6).
5. Security
All traffic to foothold.community is served over HTTPS (TLS 1.2 minimum). We use security headers (Content-Security-Policy, Referrer-Policy, Permissions-Policy) and do not serve scripts from third-party CDNs. Our infrastructure is not publicly accessible beyond the web server. We conduct periodic security reviews.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including: access to data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data, and objection to processing. To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@foothold.community. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Children
Foothold is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post changes here and update the "last updated" date. Material changes will be notified to waitlist members by email.
